WHO AM I
Hey, I’m Justin Forrest, a Professional photographer, Driller, and Offshore lifer.
I’ve spent the last 20 years working on the ocean, from joining the Royal Australian Navy at 17 as a Boatswinmate to two decades on Oil Rigs. The offshore life built me, provided for my family, and shaped how I see the world.
Now, I tell its story.
What started with a Leica and a quiet moment on the drill floor has turned into a mission.
To humanise the oil and gas industry one photograph at a time.
I use black-and-white imagery to cut through the noise, capture the soul of the job, and spotlight the people who make it all tick.
I’m not an outsider; I’m one of the crew. I’ve tripped pipes, pulled slips, and kept a bridge watch, and that’s why I’m trusted behind the camera.
I know where to be and where not to be.
I bring that same understanding, care, and respect into every shoot. Whether you’re looking to document your team, create recruitment content, or capture your legacy, I’m here to help you do it right.
This isn’t about content. It’s about connection. Let’s tell the real story together.

OFFSHORE – YOUR GATEWAY TO AUTHENTIC INDUSTRY CONTENT
Why me: I’m not a fly-in photographer. I’m not guessing what makes a good shot. I’ve lived the offshore life for two decades. I know when the story happens, and I know how to be invisible while capturing it.
This means you’re not just getting a photographer; you’re getting someone who speaks the language, respects the space, and already has the trust of the crew.
No shutdowns. No staged setups. Just real, powerful imagery taken while embedded in the world your people already live in.
My Advantage: Being embedded offshore isn’t just about unique access (though I have that). It means I can capture your people and operations without flying someone in, shutting things down, or staging artificial moments. I live and breathe this world, and that makes all the difference.
Whether it's the early morning prep on the drill floor, toolbox talks at sunrise, or quiet moments on the bridge — I’m already there, camera in hand, ready to capture the shots no one else can.
My Approach: I don’t direct. I document. I don’t show up for a few hours; I embed for days. I understand the rhythm of the rig or vessel, when to shoot, and when to step back. That’s why crews trust me. That’s why corporate clients do, too.
I mix black and white photography with polished colour content to deliver
It’s not about making it look good — it’s about making it feel real. And that’s where the impact lies.
